Today I hope to make life a little easier for you while you are teaching Beginning Sounds for the letter A. I have some free printable 18 Free Beginning Sound A Letter Worksheets for easy download. All of the letters are important, but in my opinion, the letter A is one of the most important letters. When you are teaching phonics, (and particularly the vowel sounds), just focus on one vowel sound so that the students understand how that vowel controls the word. The words map, cat, fat, rat, pat, etc all have the same sound in the middle and that sound controls the word. Once they understand they all have the short a sound, you can do magic and change the map to mop! But, I digress – Today we are talking about BEGINNING SOUNDS, not middle of the word sounds! Before we begin, here are a few books that I recommend to help you teach the Beginning Sound Letter A.

Dear Meeghan,
Just found a remark somewhere, where you asked what to do with all those picked apples. I made applesauce with my kindergarten children. A super learning opportunity and the kids loved it.
Yum! I love it..thank you! I am definitely going to try and make some applesauce!!
